Sensics - Panoramic Head-Mounted Displays

Sensics Announces Powerful, Real-Time Video Transformation and Processing Hardware

The Video Processor adapts input sources up to HD 1080 to the panoramic Sensics displays; offers flexible image warping, correction and processing capabilities.

Baltimore, MD– July 8th, 2008 – Sensics, the panoramic, high-definition head-mounted display company, announced today the Sensics Video Processor™, a unique new option for video transformation and processing. The high-speed Video Processor instantaneously adapts practically any video signal– up to full 1920x1080 pixel resolution per eye - to the Sensics displays. The Video Processor can also correct or simulate optical distortions, and perform a wide variety of image and color processing functions, all with negligible latency.

For users of the Sensics high-resolution, wide field of view products, the Video Processor allows immediate compatibility with a wide range of applications, resolutions and video sources. With the Video Processor, most Sensics products can be driven from a single computer with a standard graphics card. Multiple video processors can be used to drive Sensics products that have more than 1920x1080 pixels per eye.

“We worked hard in 2007 to establish Sensics as the premier provider of high-definition, panoramic head-mounted displays”, says Yuval Boger, CEO of Sensics. “In 2008, a key priority for us is delivering products that are quick to install and easy to use. The innovative Video Processor is a big step in that direction, offering greater compatibility with applications and resolutions than any other HMD on the market”.

The Video Processor offers exciting opportunities for numerous applications including training systems, high-end gaming, augmented reality, academic research and more. If needed, it allows customers to correct for geometrical image distortions (such as those present in fisheye lenses), implement flexible transformations (such as simulating astigmatism), perform real-time pixel manipulations (such as sharpening, smoothing and edge detection) and have fine control over color response and color values.
