Sensics Introduces Revolutionary Line of Upgradeable Panoramic Head-Mounted Displays

Starting under $35,000, dozens of high-resolution, wide field-of-view configurations meet wide range of performance and budget requirements and allow customers the option of cost-effective upgrades over time.

Baltimore, Md. - Oct 3rd, 2006 - Sensics, Inc., the panoramic virtual reality display company, today announced the immediate availability of a revolutionary line of upgradeable high-performance head-mounted displays (HMDs).

An upgradeable panoramic HMD is a new and exciting concept that is exclusively offered by Sensics. It provides customers with dozens of high-resolution, panoramic HMD configurations to meet a very wide range of performance and budget requirements. At the same time, it delivers peace of mind and investment protection: should requirements change, customers are able to cost-effectively upgrade to panoramic models with even higher performance.

Dozens of powerful panoramic configurations are now available in the Sensics piSight™ line, all featuring high-resolution displays (20 pixels/degree, 2.9 arcmin/pixel), full color and a comfortable, lightweight design. Diagonal field of views range from 69 to 179 degrees, vertical field of views reach 84 degrees, and available resolutions are as high as 4,200 by 2,400 pixels per eye. All HMDs share the same software interface model, as well as common electronic control boxes and cables. Organizations such as those providing training and simulation solutions are now able to standardize on the Sensics panoramic HMD line and offer their customers both entry-level and higher-end simulators, all using compatible product from a single technology provider.

One such affordable, high-resolution, upgradeable Sensics HMD that can be driven by a single PC, offers a diagonal field-of-view of 88 degrees for about $32,500. Once needs change, customers can upgrade to higher-performance versions offering wider field of views such as 120, 150 or even 180 degrees. Upgrades are convenient and can be performed at any time for a little more than the list-price difference between the original and upgraded configuration.

"Customers tell us time and again that 'tunnel vision' - the lack of peripheral imagery - is the biggest obstacle to HMD deployment. At the same time, not everyone wants to invest in the absolute highest performance levels," says Yuval Boger, Chief Executive Officer of Sensics. "Our new product line - affordable, upgradeable, and panoramic - makes panoramic HMDs available for a wide spectrum of budgets and applications. Users no longer have to settle for insufficient field of view, low-resolution displays, or products that would reach a ‘technology dead end’ once panoramic performance is required."

The new upgradeable piSight configurations are immediately available and start under $35,000. For additional information, please visit www.sensics.com or contact Sensics and its network of authorized resellers.
